In the FREE Punctuation Posters resource, you will find 10 different posters for display around your classroom. These posters include semicolon (;), ellipses (…), period (.), parentheses (()), quotation marks (“ ”), colon (:), apostrophe (‘), question mark (?), comma (,), and exclamation point (!). Each poster spells out the word each character represents, in addition to a large version of that character on the poster. Near the bottom of the poster is the definition of that punctuation mark, why we use it, and when your students might use it in their writing.
Perfect For Anchor Charts
Anchor charts are a tool that can be used to support instruction in your classroom. By using the Punctuation Posters FREE resource as anchor charts throughout your classroom, students can be reminded of them. Your students do a lot of writing, and having those posters/anchor charts displayed in your classroom can help them be more confident learners. At first, your students will probably reference them a lot to make sure they are using the correct punctuation in their sentences. After a while, though, they will hardly notice they are there because your students will have them memorized.
Writing Folder Reference Pages
Maybe your classroom is small, or you don’t have extra wall space. Instead of posting these FREE Punctuation Posters around your room as posters and anchor charts taking up space on your walls, create handouts. Print one per sheet as handouts for writing and grammar binders.
If you edit these posters to a smaller size, you can easily fit them on 1-2 pages for a quick and easy reference to keep inside of a writing folder. As students are writing during writing lessons, they will have easy access to their punctuation posters without needing to take up precious classroom wall space.
